The President reviews the budget 2015 which will be presented in Parliament tomorrow.

The budget 2015 will be presented in Parliament tomorrow. President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Dr. P.B. Jayasundara reviewed the budget proposals at the Temple Trees yesterday. The government is ready to provide a wide array of concessions by the budget including reduction of fuel and gas prices and electricity tariff. The government says all the allegations made by the opposition regarding the cost of living will be resolved by the forthcoming budget. The budget will focus to speed up the country’s development. The estimated government’s income for the next year is more than 171 billion rupees and the expenditure is above 350 billion rupees. The budget has made allocations by considering the medium term framework between 2015 and 2014 and also giving priority to the new development projects.

Deputy Treasury Secretary B.M.S. Batagoda said that the budget would include proposals that would improve sectors such as health and education. The trade unions have made proposals on welfare of public servants and the pensioners. Mr. Batagoda said that the President paid his attention on the proposals forwarded by various stakeholders when preparing the budget.

Meanwhile, the Parliament will meet at 1.00 pm today.
