The army says that stern attention has been focused on national security with the removal of a ban on LTTE by the European court.

Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya says that the stern attention has been focused on the national security of Sri Lanka following the withdrawal of the ban on the LTTE. Although there are no armed LTTErs, groups upholding separatist and conceptions are seen in and outside of Sri Lanka. The removal of the Ban would enable the LTTE to recommence activities such as fund raising. There is a threat of Sri Lanka being directly or indirectly influenced by such activities.
The army media spokesman participating in a media briefing in Colombo today further said that security divisions have received information on attempts to revive the LTTE. Certain groups are waging false propaganda against the security forces at a time when these forces are engaged in efforts to strengthen goodwill among the ethnic groups.
Navy media spokesman commander Kosala Warnakulasooriya said that the navy will purchase two more vessels for the navy from India.
