President Mahinda Rajapaksa will inaugurate the 6th stage of the Divineguma national movement at an auspicious moment today. The president will plant a sapling at the temple trees premises at the auspicious time 10.07 am. Minister Basil Rajapakse will join the programme from Katana area. Additional secretary of the ministry of economic development Shantha Bandara says that 2.5 million families in 23,000 Grama Seva divisions throughout the country will also join the programme.
The strengthening of 2.5 million domestic economic units in the fisheries and the livestock sectors will also take place on this day. The economic development officials, Grama Niladaries, Divineguma Development officials, agricultural researches and production assistants as well as family health officials will provide guidance to the general public. Technical instructions could be obtained by contacting the agricultural instructor of the area by dialing the hot line 1920. Each family will be provided with seven varieties of vegetable seeds, nine vegetable plants and a fruit sapling . 2.5 million coconut saplings are also to be distributed. The Divineguma National Programme will also engage in the distribution of the chicks and bee boxes. Thousand ponds to carryout ornamental fish breeding will also be set up. In addition model home gardens will be established in ten thousand schools.
6th stage of the Divi Neguma national programme begins today under the patronage of the President.
