The government has allocated Rs.300 million rupees for this year alone to pay compensation to civilians of the North who were impacted by the conflict.
Compensation is being granted to civilians who had lost their limbs and hands and also house and property due to the conflict.
Out of the total amount allocated, Rs. 110 million has already been paid and another Rs. 130 million will be paid to 1,500 affected families in the north on October 12 by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at a function to be held at Iranamadu in Kilinochchi.
Meanwhile, the government has taken measures to repair 100 places of worship that had been damaged by the conflict. The programme is carried out by the District Secretaries and Divisional Secretaries under the supervision of Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera.
