The close associates of the Maithreepala, Ranil alliance are about to begin the political persecutions against people who were critical of them during the election campaign period.
According to the reports published on pro government sites, they are planning to fabricate rape allegations against Wimal Weerawansa, a member of the parliament and vocal critic of Maithree-Ranil alliance.
According to new pro-government websites, some of the possible victims of these politically motivated persecution are senior journalists and civil servants such as Hudson Samarasinghe, a veteran broadcast journalist, Gamini Senarath, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, a civil servant, P.B. Jayasundara, a civil servant and Dilith Jayaweera, a journalist.
