Lakmuthu Sevana Housing Complex at Mayura Place in Wellawatte will be declared open by the President today.

All arrangements are in place for the opening of the Lakmuthu Sevana Housing Complex built on behalf of families living in houses with less facilities at Mayura Place in Wellawatte. The Complex with 118 housing units is scheduled to be opened by the President today.
Many programmes are in place for the speedy development of the Colombo Metropolitan as a Commercial Hub in South Asia. As an initial measure, the Urban Development Authority embarked on a programme to build new Housing Complexes on behalf of the families living in houses in Colombo with low facilities. All these programmes are mooted on the instructions and guidance of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Plans are afoot to inaugurate the Lakmuthu Sevana Housing Scheme which has been constructed for the benefit of families living with low facilities at Mayura Place in Wellawatte. The outlay for the Scheme was 80 million rupees. The Urban Development Authority said that its plans are to launch such projects consistently while overcoming the challenges of developing the Colombo city with the most modern facilities and in an environment friendly manner. Many such projects have already been vested with the public realizing the Mahinda Chinthana concept of providing a house to every family.
