The pro-LTTE Protesters were stopped and arrested by the Police near the Light House.

According to reports more than 50 pro-LTTE activists belonging to Tamilaga Munnetra Kazhzgam were arrested by the Police.

Earlier, in an interview with a private TV channel, it was reported that Dr. Subramaniam Swamy has told that he has requested not to release the arrested boats and trawlers belonging to Tamil Nadu.

Furthermore it was alleged that in his interview with the private TV channel, he has made several critical expressions about the Tamils and about a few leaders of Tamil Nadu.

Dr. Subramanian Swamy has told in the TV interview that he had taken up the issue of arrest of Rameswaram fishermen by Sri Lankan Navy at the behest of fishermen associations and that he had asked for their release since that was “the brief” of to him.

Sri Lankan government while “freeing” the arrested fishermen has not released their trawlers, which, according to Colombo, are damaging the local catch. Swamy concentrated on the release of the “poor unprotected fishermen”, as he put it when he met President Rajapaksa in Colombo.

Dr. Subramanian Swamy in a letter to the Prime Minister clarifying his position has written that one reason for not pressing for the boats’ release, according to him, was in the fact that those boats are “mostly owned by some powerful persons in Tamil Nadu who anyway did not petition him about it.

He alleged in the alleged in the Times Now (TV) interview that TR Balu of DMK and Sasikala, the residence friend of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalthaa are the major owners of trawler.

For his criticisms many leaders of the Tamil parties and supporters displayed strong opposition.
Protesters alleged that Dr. Swamy was the stooge of Sri Lanka and he must immediately leave India and settle down in Sri Lanka.

The pro- LTTE activists also said that due to anti-Tamil Nadu activities of Dr. Swamy, BJP would not be able to set foot in Tamil Nadu.
